from Cathy Griffith at Access Services: As you may remember, last year we started sending all the lost and found items turned in at the Check Out Desk to the EUC Info Desk daily. While doing so has worked well, we have been asked to make a few changes. Among them, we are no longer supposed to contact anyone to let them know that we have their items. This change may sound drastic at first, but the Info Desk staff contacts everyone for which they can find a name as soon as they receive the items. When we contact the owner it creates confusion which leads to people being bounced and too much time being spent looking for items that they do not have. Every item turned in to us is turned in to them with 24 hours, 7 days a week. If we do make an exception and contact someone, we have to keep the item here, and we do not want to be in that business any longer.
So, please, when you find items in or around the Library, turn them in directly to the Check Out Desk and do not contact the owner.
