TRC Handouts about PRAXIS

Here's some info from two handouts by Karen Gauvigan from TRC being shared with Education majors. A lot of these students may be wanting to use a PRAXIS practice test, so people may want to take a quick look at Learning Express. Below is the information Karen is sharing with students in the School of Education with a little editing from Mary for brevity.

PRAXIS Study Guides: Several study guides for PRAXIS I (PPST) and PRAXIS II exams are available in the Teaching Resources Center (TRC). To find out which guides are available, please do an online search through the Jackson Library catalog. You can also call ahead to reserve a PRAXIS study guide by calling the TRC at (336) 334-4035. The TRC is located in 247 Ferguson.TRC Hours: Monday-Thursday 8am-9pm
Friday 8am-5pm Sunday 4pm-8pm
PRAXIS Review Software / Learning Express Library: The Jackson Library website provides access to the Learning Express Library that offers PRAXIS practice exams free of charge.
The following PRAXIS practice exams are available through Learning Express:
· PRAXIS I - Pre Professional Skills Test - 2 practice Exams
· PRAXIS II Early Childhood: Content Knowledge - 2 practice Exams
· PRAXIS II Elementary Education: Content Knowledge - 2 practice exams
· PRAXIS II Middle School Content Knowledge - 2 practice exams
To access this program:
1. Go to Learning Express Library
2. Under the heading “Learning Centers” (left side of the page), click Jobs & Careers.
3. Click on the Teaching link from the categories listed.
4 A second list will appear.
5. Click on either the PPST: Praxis I Preparation link or the Praxis II Preparation link.
6. Click the Login to Add link to the right of your selection. You will be asked to create a unique username and password for accessing scores and keeping track of your progress. Please make a note of this username/password. Jackson Library has no access to this information and cannot help you should you lose or forget your access information.

Educational Testing Service (ETS) Website: The ETS website has registration information regarding paper-based test dates and locations as well as how to register for online testing. Additionally, the website offers free test preparation information such as Test at a Glance.
