A communication sciences and disorders student just asked me about places to search for anatomical images of a human larynx. She was interested in illustrations rather than actual scans from a cadaver. She preferred to search online rather than use an anatomy textbook.
We do *not* subscribe to any large database or site that specializes in medical illustrations, but if a student in the health sciences approaches you with this kind of question, there are a couple of easy places to search.
Consumer Health Complete is a database recently picked up by NC Live. It has articles, fact sheets, images and brief videos meant for patient education. The front page has an easy shortcut to the images search, where we found 6 larynx illustrations.
Medlineplus.gov is a free consumer health site produced by the National Library of Medicine. There are some images on this site. You can use the search box on the top left corner of the home page to search all site content for larynx. Then on the results page, in the sidebar, click on Images.
Just FYI in case you encounter this kind of question. I'm not approached for help on this topic very often.
