access to Jarrell Lecture Hall

Generally Access Services works with this and we should refer patrons to them if Jarrell Hall is locked:
But just in case we have questions, here is the policy.
* Mon-Fri, between 8-5: Libraries staff should ask Housekeeping (334-5684, request@uncg.edu) to give patrons access.
* Any time outside of Mon-Fri, 8-5: Libraries staff should ask Campus Police (334-5963) to give patrons access. If Housekeeping is unable to respond quickly for some reason, ASD staff can and should unlock Jarrell Hall for faculty members. ASD can verify faculty status.

• Keys for operating the handicap elevator lift in the lobby of Jarrell are locked inside the teaching station. So, all instructors have access to the lift keys.
o If this key cannot be accessed, a backup, key 56, is located in the key books.

• In the event that student groups want access to Jarrell and Housekeeping does not respond, ASD staff may verify that the hall is booked then provide access .

If someone wants to know if there is a lecture or other non-class event. To verify that Jarrell Hall is booked:

Go to http://www.uncg.edu/reg/classrooms/index.html
Click the big icon that says Astra Schedule / View classroom schedules
If prompted to Select A Campus, choose campus M (for "main"). Click Submit.Select the proper date and select the building "LIBR", then click "Apply Filter"
This will display any reservations for Jarrell Hall on the given date.
If there is no reservation for a student group, Access Services will not provide access.

After 5 pm, weekends and holidays:

• We are to refer all patrons to campus police for Jarrell access. Campus police is supposed to be monitoring the Jarrell schedule online now, so presumably if Jarrell is locked after 5, that means no groups have officially reserved the hall that night. Please let Joe Williams know immediately if there are problems. (This includes patrons wanting to re-enter to retrieve lost items.)
o Exceptions: If prearranged by the police, library administration or TLC, or if the police instruct us to do it because they cannot.

• A sign will be available to place on the desk after 5 stating " To enter Jarrell Hall (LIB 032) after 5 p.m., contact Campus Police at 334-5963." If patrons should ask you for access, just let them use our desk phone to call CP.
