From Access Services
We have a volunteer, Heather Mitchell, working Monday-Wednesdays from 7-9 pm on the DVD genre project. She is finishing out the TV DVDs, of which there are many. We are now at the stage where we have to match up all of the discs for each title and send them to Cataloging for new catalog call numbers and call number labels. As she identifies the discs that need to go to Cataloging, she will check them out to a dummy patron named TVDVDS, and she will give them the due date of NEVER. They will be sent to Cataloging the next day.
While they are in Cataloging they are unavailable because they are being reprocessed. Please do not ask Cataloging to rush them. We will not take any searches or holds. They will be available again within a few days.
In Workflows these DVDs can be identified by the due date of NEVER. The opac status will say "Temporarily unavailable" as in the example below. (This example is of 2 discs that we sent to cataloging this morning. When sent to them the call numbers were something like DV 255 and DV 256. They have since given them the new number that corresponds to the newer seasons already cataloged correctly, but have not returned them to us yet.)
