Hi, you probably all saw the message below - but just a reminder that the Library has had thefts too. I had a young woman ask me last week if it was okay to leave her things on a table while she went up to the stacks to get books - after all, we have cameras she said. If you get a question like that, please let people know it is absolutely NOT safe, even textbooks can be stolen, and the cameras probably cover only a relatively small portion of the building. another reminder - if people leave the public computers logged on - if you notice, log them off. Leaving the machines logged on can leave their accounts vulnerable in a variety of ways. Mary
FROM campus police
During the last week, the UNCG campus has experienced a wave of larcenies. The most common characteristic in these larcenies has been that the victims left valuables in unsecured residence hall rooms, offices, or vehicles. In some cases, the victims left book bags, computers, and other electronic devices unattended in public areas like the Elliott University Center. Victims include faculty, staff, and students.
The UNCG Police Department is asking you to take steps to protect your property and help us apprehend the people committing these crimes.
If you live in a residence hall, always lock your room when you leave, even if for just a few minutes.
If you have an office, lock your office when you are away or secure your property if you cannot lock your work space.
Do not leave valuables in the passenger area of your vehicle. Lock valuables in the trunk.
Secure your bicycle with strong, u-bolt style locks and register your bicycle with Parking Operations and Campus Access Management or with the City of Greensboro.
Do not leave property unattended in public places.
Call the police if you see something suspiciou
