Payment Options for Printing and Photocopying

The Library is in a transition period between the old FirstCard cash to chip ID system and the new Spartan Card cash to card ID system. For more information on this change please see http://firstcard.uncg.edu/.

Is Your Card a UNCG FirstCard ID or Guest Card or a Spartan Card?

Users with UNCG FirstCard ID’s and Guest Cards, with chips on the front, do not need to obtain a new ID or Guest Card. Money can be added at the Spartan Card Center, EUC, 8 am–5 pm Monday–Friday.

Users with the new Spartan Cards, without chips on the front, cannot use the ID in any chip card reader. Once our card readers are converted to magnetic strip readers, you will be able to add money at the Fill Station located across the main library hallway from the Check Out Desk.

Options for payment while the Spartan Card Center is closed and for those with no chip on their ID appear by category in the below text.

Printing Options

UNCG students registered for Summer receive 40 pages of free print jobs in IT-sponsored computer labs. In the library, the Superlab is the IT-sponsored lab. No ID is required to release these jobs.

Presently all library and Superlab print stations are still attached to chip card readers. To pay for printing, money must be stored on the chip. We do not expect the library readers to be converted to the new system until mid to late June 2009. We expect the Superlab readers to be converted soon.

Anyone without a chip on their ID or money on their chip who needs to print while the Spartan Card Center is closed, may borrow a card at the Check Out Desk. Cash payment is expected as soon as the print jobs are released. Please send your print jobs to the printer before borrowing the card.

Photocopying Options

The only working copier is the coin/cash copier located in the Photocopy Center across from the Check Out Desk. This machine accepts coins and bills. Change for large bills is available at the Check Out Desk.
Two of the library photocopiers have been converted to the new system, but that system has not yet been activated, thus, they are out of order until it is. We expect them to be working soon.

Other Options

During this time of budgetary restraint on campus, we encourage the conservation of paper and toner. Instead of printing, consider saving to a flashdrive, to your UNCG personal account space or emailing to your personal account. Instead of photocopying, consider scanning. A scanner is available to everyone in Reference (ask about it at the Reference Desk); scanners are available to UNCG students, faculty, and staff in the Superlab.
