Hey all, message from Liane
There is an assignment going around for HDF475 right now in which
students need to find a literature review from a specific list of
sources. Some of the students don't seem to fully understand the
assignment - they think they need to write a lit review on an article,
but they need to write a paragraph on a lit review. They have the list
of suggested resources from their professor, but in case they can't find
it:
• The most recent Decade Review issue of the Journal of Marriage and Family (Volume 72, Issue 3)
• Handbook of Parenting, 2nd Edition from 2002, edited by Marc Bornstein
• Handbook of Child Psychology, 6th Edition from 2006, edited by William Damon and Richard Lerner
• Handbook of Adolescent Psychology, 3rd Edition from 2009, edited by Richard Lerner and Laurence Steinberg
• Handbook of Infant Development, 2004, edited by J. Bremner and Theodore Wachs
I have encouraged them to go to their professor if they need
clarification on the assignment, but as it reads, it seems that they
should identify a subject of interest, read a lit review on the subject,
and identify lacunae in the body of work. They will write a paragraph
about what's missing for this assignment and eventually end up writing a
research paper on that topic.
