Quiet, silent, and group study floors

Hi all,

Announcement from Joe Williams about noise restrictions in the Tower:

We recently added some new terminology to our floor signs in the tower. Floors 2-5 are still designated as Group Study floors and 6-9 are still Quiet floors, but we have termed the sixth floor as being a Silent floor. This was a suggestion we received from students and, so far, patrons have been self-enforcing the new Silent designation fairly well.

In the coming weeks, to further reinforce these new labels, we plan to paint the floor numbers and designations (e.g., Floor 6 / Silent Zone) on the wall opposite the elevator on each floor. This was another suggestion from several students.

As always, ASD staff will respond to any complaints about noise levels.

(Floors 2-5):  Group Study floor. Group study and Conversation OK; Headphones turned down.

(Floor 6): Silent Zone floor. No talking; Cell phones turned off; No headphones.

(Floors 7-9): Quiet Zone floor. No group study or loud conversation; Cell phones turned off; Headphones turned down.

Thanks,
Lea
