Costuming Research Resources

You may get questions from costume design and history students related to their "world of the play" and "iconic character" research assignments, that ask them to find historical primary sources, literary/dramatic criticism, and visual references for a range of super-specific time periods, places, and genres/aesthetics. While Sarah Dorsey is the theatre liaison, she has deputized me to work with the costuming students and faculty because of the overlap their sub-discipline has with visual art and design. While the various topics students will be researching will require some creative approaches that I have gone over with them, you may find additional ideas and resources on their research guides, which are located here:

(These two guides are used for a range of classes, so they aren't labelled with specific course names/codes.) We have also added these guides to the list of Theatre Course Guides on the Theatre Subject Guide so that they are more easily discoverable!

If students have questions about their costuming research, please encourage them to follow up with me!
