Printer Server Issues This Morning
The library's print server was having issues this morning and was displaying a "reconfiguring printer server" message as of 8:00 am. ERIT has currently stabilized it, but there is a possibility that they may have to take the server down for a little while sometime today. Stay tuned to the ref blog if that does happen. In any case, we can still send people to the Superlab for printer during library server maintenance.

Printer fix
The computer on the end in the row next to the wall beside the printer has lost its connection to the network printer a few times recently. You can choose Devices and Printers from the main menu and select Tower Printer and set as default to fix the problem - at least it worked for me today. If that printer doesn't appear, or it still doesn't work, report it to ERIT.

Printing Problems
Sometimes patrons have been getting the message "no printer matches all job attributes." It is in a box that pops up after the patron enters his/her password and then it will not print the job. The problem seems to be that the document is set to print in color. Try changing the print job to grey scale. It should fix the problem

printing in reference
from Franklin via Mary
The print queue in Reference is actually already configured to allow printing from the printer in the Reading Room in the event that the printer in Reference is not working. All patrons need to do is go to the print release station in the Reading Room and follow the same procedure that they'd use to print their job in Reference.

Public Printer

ERIT has just installed an new printer for the public workstations. The current toner cartridge is only good for approximately 100 copies, so use the one in the supply closet that is already out of the box when you need it (it's from the old printer and is new). Printouts from the workstations in the Reading Room are still being routed to this printer.
