Ingenta PPV

You may find some titles in Journal Finder listed as Ingenta PPV or Ingenta Pay Per View - we have money in a fund to buy these. In order to retrieve an article the patron must click on "Buy Now" or "Add to Cart" Then they must either login or setup an account - this is not the UNCG account but a separate Ingenta account Once they have setup an account they will be asked to Buy Now or Add to Cart to be granted access to the article. These are very expensive (typically $30-$50 per article) and they should definitely do Add to Cart and see how much it costs before ordering. BUT they need to know this is charged to the UNCG account. Because the system requires so much identifying info to log in, people get very nervous but if they have logged on initially with the UNCG account, we are charged. To look at a title, try Advances in Physiotherapy - you will notice that our EBSCO account lacks the most recent 12 months, but that Ingenta is current. Be sure NOT to choose Buy Now if you take a look! I tend to recommend these pretty rarely - mostly for grad. students or faculty or for very unusual topics. You can log on as yourself and then email these to patrons if you choose. Let Mary or Beth Bernhardt know if you have questions about Ingenta.

Ingenta PPV

Hi all,

In case someone asks what "Ingenta PPV" means in Journal Finder and why they can't see pdfs under each article description in something like the Journal of Clinical Hypertension, here's the scoop - the library will purchase "pay per view" articles for current UNCG patrons upon demand. The patron can download the pdf. Also, the pdf will continue to be available to that one patron in their Ingenta account for 24 hours.

Here's how it works -

1) The patron follows a link (usually through Journal Finder but you can use the Ingenta databases link if needed).
2) Log in with his/her current UNCG computer account
3) On right side, create an Ingenta account (or log in if s/he already has an Ingenta account)
4) Find the exact article and "add to cart" to get the pdf.
5) There's an article fee but the payment method will be marked as UNC-Jackson Library and that account will be charged. Patrons should NOT put in any credit card information.

Cheers,
Lea
