Elections guide

I've updated the elections guide with info for the general election. I've asked it be on the digital sign or spotlight too. I am not sure if we will have a registration table in the library, but you will see groups registering around campus. I've linked to the main sources to get info about the process.

Elections are coming!

A few of us are gearing up for the election season this semester. Melvina is setting up a registration table and will send out more information soon. OLSL is planning a Voting 101 event for September 10 at 12:00 pm where a member of Democracy NC and I will be presenting. Encourage students to attend!

Also please refer people to the library elections guide if they have questions about voting, the new voting law, or candidates: http://uncg.libguides.com/govinfo/elections   I will be adding material as it become available. Feel free to send sites along if you find them.

Don't forget there have been quite a few changes to the voting law including no more same-day registration!

Roper Center for polling data

There may be a few assignments askings students for polling data (or with the elections looming they be interested). Don't forget we have a database called Roper Center for Public Opinion Research that is our primary polling source.

When you enter the database click on iPoll to get to the public opinion polls. RoperExpress will allow you to download datasets. It is a great source! Please use it!

Also don't forget the Elections and Voting page.

LexisNexis Academic used to be the main site, but they had a pricing dispute with Roper sadly. Some info is in there but most is over in Roper now.
