ProQuest ebook issues

UPDATE: So apparently it's not affecting all of the ebooks, just the two or three unrelated titles we happened to be trying to access in a row (miraculously). These have been reported but the others should be fine. If you come across any issues with downloading chapters in ProQuest ebooks, please report them to erhelp@uncg.edu.

We are currently having issues downloading pages/chapters of ProQuest ebooks. The issue seems to be affecting all of the ebooks in their collection and it has been reported. Stay tuned for resolution...

NC LIVE: ProQuest Central Update: Database Additions, Removals, and Name Changes

http://www.nclive.org/blog/service/proquest-central-update-database-additions-removals-and-name-changes

From that post:

As of June 1, 2016, ProQuest has made several changes to the databases included in ProQuest Central:

16 NEW databases were added
7 databases were discontinued, with their content consolidated into other databases
24 databases underwent name changes

I'm sure that Kate will process this and edit the A-Z list as necessary.

Proquest and Film on Demand

Error Message when Emailing Articles within ProQuest Databases
Users sometimes see the error message "communication with the server failed" when trying to email articles out of ProQuest databases. To prevent the error, users must enter both a name and an email address in the form. ProQuest is aware of this issue and is working to correct it.

Films on Demand Title URLs Fail in Microsoft Office Products
Films on Demand is working with Microsoft to correct this issue. Please see this Films on Demand help center page for details and the workarounds to use until the issue is corrected.

The above issues were discovered thanks to member library reports to the NC LIVE Help Desk. Please contact the Help Deskwith any questions, problems, or feedback.

Sincerely,

The NC LIVE Staff

Trial access to ReferenceUSA and OneSource through fall 2014

There is librarian-only trial access to RefUSA and OneSource this fall. See the bottom of
http://www.nclive.org/resources2015/implementation and note the username and password at the bottom. (I just used it to accomplish something that a research assistant couldn't do using Mergent Intellect.)

Also, ABI-INFORM is now on the A-Z list as well as my library guides as appropriate.

Proquest and JF problems

I wanted to let you know that the link resolver (Journal Finder) that you are using in the new platform is working but there is another problem at hand that I have escalated to our developers. Right now you can search through the new platform, find a result that has a link for full text, and click on the link with the journal finder graphic next to it and be taken to the correct area to find the full text version of what you’re looking for. However, there is a scrambled URL below that link on each document page that is broken and clicking on this will break the connectivity with the good link above it within your browser (see attached image). If somebody does mistakenly click on this they can clear their browser history, cache, and cookies and start a fresh session which should fix the issue. I will let you know when I hear more information back from our team as to why this phantom URL is showing up at all on your account and when we have fixed the issue. In the meantime if you have any questions please let me know, thank you!

news from proquest congressional

A new Congress has begun. Here at ProQuest Congressional (i'll have to get used to calling it this!!), we are in the process of adding 112th Congress dropdowns to our product and reconfiguring our databases to get ready for the new content. As you may recall from previous years, our rollover and testing process necessitates a brief hiatus in the searchability of some content from the previous Congress. The searches that are currently impacted are:
· Bill Tracking
· Bill Full Text
· Member Records: Bills Sponsored and Personal Profiles
Code of Federal Regulations searches will also be impacted by the end of the week.
While we test our databases, researchers doing searches for data in the above files will not be able to access data for the 111th Congress. Other searches will not be impacted at all. We expect that the release for the 112th Congress rollover will take place on the night of January 14th. Once the release occurs, the search forms will display the 112th Congress dropdown options and searches for both 1111th Congress and 112th Congress data will all run smoothly.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Regards,
