Interlibrary loan updates from Access Services

Q: Who is eligible for Interlibrary Loan?
A: UNCG students, staff, faculty, and faculty emeritus.
Q: What is the usual turnaround time for an I.L.L. book request?
A: This depends on the lending library and how easy or difficult an item is to locate. Many books are delivered within a week. Refer patron to I.L.L. for more details on specific requests.
Q: What is the usual loan period for an I.L.L. book request?
A: This depends on the lending library. Loan periods are often 2-3 weeks, and many items are eligible for a 2-week renewal online. Refer patron to I.L.L. for more details on specific requests.
Q: How do I see what I.L.L. books I have checked out?
A: Login to ILLiad. From the left-hand menu, select View >> Checked Out Items.
Q: What is the status of my I.L.L. request?
A: Patrons can view their status online by logging into ILLiad, then selecting View >> Outstanding Requests from the left-hand menu. Some common statuses include:
• Awaiting Customer Contact – Means UNCG has requested more info from patron via email.
• Awaiting Request Processing – This request has gone through the copyright clearance process, if necessary. It is now ready to be searched for and requested from potential lenders.
• Awaiting Unfilled Processing – The requested item was not filled by any of the possible lending libraries for various reasons. We will identify additional potential lenders and send the request again unless the user 'Not Wanted After Date' has expired.
• Request Sent – Means UNCG is waiting for other libraries to agree to lend the item.
• Request Processing – Means a library is preparing to ship the item to UNCG.
• Item Shipped – Means the item is en route to UNCG from a lending library.

Q: How can I renew my I.L.L. book loan?
A: UNCG students, staff, faculty, and faculty emeritus can renew their own I.L.L. materials online, provided that the lending library has allowed renewals. To renew your I.L.L. materials:
• Login to ILLiad
• From the left-hand menu, select View >> Checked Out Items.
• Click on the transaction number for the item you wish to renew.
• On the resulting screen, if a renewal is possible for that item, you will see a link at the top of the page titled Renew This Request. Clicking the link will renew the item for an additional 2 weeks.
• If you do not see the Renew This Request link, that means the item cannot be renewed.
• The new due date will be displayed on your ILLiad account under View >> Checked Out Items
