some computer reminders

These software updates are controlled by ITS and cannot be scheduled.
Updates will not always require the machine to re-boot. When a re-boot is required, you will see a pop-up window in the middle of the screen telling you the machine will be re-booting in five minutes.

You do not have to wait five minutes to re-boot, if you don't want to. You can re-boot any time within the next five minutes yourself.
Most often, we will just see a message at the bottom-right corner of the screen saying that software updates are taking place. No re-boot will be required in these cases.

Once our newly migrated workstations have all downloaded their software updates over the next day or two, we should expect to see very few additional updates.
