Problem listening to Blackboard recordings on "public log in machines"

Hi all,

An SCM 650 student was trying to listen to a recording in Blackboard, but the recording wouldn't launch.

I contacted ERIT, the  dept. that helps with problems on library computers.  This is the first that they've heard of this issue.  Charlie logged in as an administrator and spent about 5 minutes upgrading software so that this .jnlp file from Blackboard would run. The student was then able to watch her recording. Every person who sits at this specific computer (RIS -018) should be able to do so for the time being (campus ITS periodically updates computer stuff).

Charlie is going to let Franklin, the head of the support team, know about this problem so they can plan how to fix this problem on all of our machines.

In the meantime, if a student logged into one of the desktop machines in the ref room, reading room, or CITI lab tells you that they can't watch a recording from Blackboard, phone ERIT and ask someone from the Support Team to update that machine: 336.334.4238

Thanks,
Lea
