Catalog claims that we own an article but you can't get to it - steps to take

When you search for an article in the catalog, you might see a record marked UNCG even though we don't have that article
  • no View Now link
  • clicking into the record, there's no print call number

Please don't assume that we don't own this article until you ALSO try to get into the entire journal or newspaper.

Try these steps
  1. Search for the journal title in quotes in the catalog. Does UNCG have a range of years that includes this article?  If so, click into the journal or give the print call number to the patron.
  2. Before recommending ILL, remember that some journals & newspapers get renamed from time to time.  Scroll down the catalog record to "other titles." You can search other titles to see if there are UNCG holdings listed with a different name.
Status
You'll probably notice articles in the catalog incorrectly labelled with UNCG access for a while. OCLC has recommended a potential fix that will be tested in December after finals.

The cataloging dept respectfully reports that it already has plenty of examples of this problem, no need to report any more.

(but if you're in doubt about whether you're seeing a known problem or something new, best to be thorough and report it - "Who You Gonna Call" lists contacts for lots of problems)

Thanks,
Lea
