new innovation project in MKT 309 involving wild horse and deer innoculations

MKT 309 is an upper-level speaking- and writing-intensive business communications class required of all Bryan School majors. There are 17 sections this fall. You may get some questions from these student teams, since there are so many of them. Some sections are online.

Under direction of the new named chair in Innovation, all the sections are researching solutions to the problem of deer and wild horse populations. (A tech transfer startup out of the U. of Dalhousie is the partner; it has a vaccine that makes females infertile for up to 5 years).

The students need to research:

  • the potential market (size of the populations)
  • solving the problems of 1. herding the wild animals, 2. inoculating them, 3. tagging them, in large numbers, in both urban and rural environments.
  • Stakeholders involved (local, state, federal governments including the BLM; insurance companies? etc.)
They also need to use APA, including for required charts, tables, graphs. Some sections have to make videos.

The libguide http://uncg.libguides.com/mkt309 covers the business research well, although that stuff has limited value.

Best sources are probably the animal science article databases, which I list on the top left, and Google especially limited to site:.gov or even site:blm.gov.
