NUR 450 students working on PICOT questions

Hi all,

There are 5 sections of nursing 450 students working on PICOT questions that are due tomorrow afternoon, when I get to meet with NUR 450. Sorry there isn't a course guide.

This evidence based practice libguide has a tab that explains PICO(T) - it's an acronym that helps you move from a broad topic to a specific research question.

The student starts by filling information in for their PICO based on their own interest/experience  -- then the student should look at articles for more information and maybe to adjust their topic.

The students that I've spoken with so far have needed to find research articles. CINAHL and PubMed are useful for finding those.

Also FYI the free medical search engine TRIP has a search page that guides users through PICO (hat tip to Mr. Dale for suggesting that resource for these students!)

If a question like this takes > 5 minutes or really goes south, please forward it to me.  Nursing libguides like this have my email address and "schedule appointment" button.

Thanks,
Lea
