Due to the exceptionally high demand, however, costs rose above the amount budgeted. Films cost $135/one year license. Last year alone, we spent over 70,000 dollars on films. We want to make sure we can continue to offer this service to patrons who need it for their instruction while practicing sustainable purchases. Due to this, the following changes have taken place this year:
*If we have not already purchased a license for this year, patrons will need to fill out a form requesting access to the film. Only faculty or graduate student instructors will be able to request films, and the films must be used for classes. There is space in the form for faculty to include course numbers. Other requests will likely be denied.
*The form goes to Christine, Cathy R., Beth,Michelle and Anne O., who track incoming requests, deny or approve the request, and then pay for the leased film. Requesters will be informed of the status of the request, and if they have the request approved, be sent a link to the film to use in their class.
*Kanopy can still be accessed through the Database A-Z list or the Streaming Media Libguide. Even if we purchase a film for this year, we will not be adding it into the catalog due to the book keeping overhead that would require.
