Online resources (ebooks, online articles) and eReserves

Hi all,

A nursing instructor just asked me about the best way to make a library ebook available to his spring class.

Here's a general reminder:

eReserves is more for digitized versions of print articles or a very small portion from a print book, say one chapter.  A collection of those digitized items is created in a Box folder and the instructor gets embed code to that they can post in Canvas. (reserves info here)

When an instructor wants to provide an online book, article, video -  the preferred approach is to post a direct link in Canvas. This works when
  • the link is stable/persistent and works on and off campus: the liaison librarian can help or ask around and get back to the instructor
  • it's known if only one person at a time can use the source: the liaison librarian can check this or ask

Best,
Lea
