Message from UNCG ITS about non UNCG wireless access:
Occasionally, there is a reason for someone not affiliated with UNCG (or any other university for that matter) who needs WiFi access on our campus. While one solution is for the user to use the UNCG-Wireless network, an alternative is to use ANYROAM - a service provided by the same company that handles the Eduroam network. This can be requested by anyone who has a cell phone (as the passcode is sent via text, I believe).
The primary benefits here are that the access can be used at any Eduroam site and the access persists for up to a year. ITS has a knowledge base article for this: https://uncg.service-now.com/kb_view.do?sysparm_article=KB0011464
It's important to note: this is not intended for anyone who would already have access to Eduroam from being affiliated with UNCG or another university. I don't know what problems it might cause to their existing wireless connectivity. However, should you know someone (vendor, family member, interviewing candidate, etc.) who needs persistent access for a device while on campus (not necessarily UNCG), this may be a good solution for them.
