It's that time of the year when people are contacting us to ask if we have options for them to mail/ship them back. Please be extra careful to verify that the books they want to return are library books, not bookstore books.
- Ask them if the books were borrowed from the UNCG Libraries, through Interlibrary Loan, or rented from the UNCG Bookstore.
- You may have to provide some description if they don't know, such as UNCG Library books have call number labels on their spines or covers and a barcode that says the name of one of our libraries or an affiliate like the TRC. ILL books have a colorful paper wrapper on their covers that have the name of the borrower and the UNCG Libraries logo on them.
- Or, ask is this a text book that you rented from the bookstore for a class?
- If they are library books, then they can request a prepaid UPS return shipping label from us and find other information about returns on this page: https://library.uncg.edu/returning-library-materials/ (This service is not for equipment returns.)
- If they are Bookstore books, advise them to contact the bookstore regarding their return process: https://uncg.bncollege.com/customer-service, and let them know that if their books were to be returned to the library, we cannot guarantee that the Bookstore will be able to identify who returned them and credit their account. They should not put Bookstore books in our book drops either.
