I had a patron question today and ended up sending her this info via email (somewhat edited). Worth repeating, I thought in case this is new for anyone.
It is possible to get audio for articles, but only for HTML files, not PDF for at least two of our databases.
Go to Academic Search Premier either from Database guide or - use this link
https://library.uncg.edu/dbs/auth/go.asp?vdbID=49
I did a search on "celtic dance" - and most of the first several
articles I pulled up had HTML. click on any of these HTML links -
when you get the text of the article up, there will be a
"listen" icon above the article info. and you can even adjust the
speed and accent (try Australian!). You can download these as MP3s.
Academic One File also has the feature - I did a
similar search and also clicked on "to
documents with full text" which is right underneath the search box.
This also works only with HTML but in this database, it will simply
say "Full Text" - click on any of those links and you will pull up
the text of the article - in this case, the "listen" link is on the
far right hand side - a bit harder to see, but it will let you
download it as an MP3,.
link is https://library.uncg.edu/dbs/auth/go.asp?vdbID=152
And here's a challenge - do other databases allow this?? If you know of any or find them, add as a comment to this post. From Mary
