Franklin just called to let me know that he has been working with the Systel rep today and the the rep sincerely apologizes for the problem with the toner.  The rep said that their calculations as to our print volume were incorrect, and they were not prepared.  Twenty toner cartridges are due tomorrow, and we will be given replacements to keep on hand.  Additionally, they are planning to switch the Lobby and Reference printers to a higher capacity model.  The current Citi printer will remain as it will be designated for color printing.

Let's cross our fingers that the toner arrives tomorrow as planned.

Tuesday printer update - we are working on resolving several issues - as of 2:30, one of the printers near the elevator is working, Reference is still up but might run out of toner before tomorrow,  DMC and Reading Room should be OK to print.  We are emphasizing to Systel that we MUST have additional cartridges, particularly for night and weekend printing.  So far, the rollout is going badly, but we're hoping for quick improvements. We still don't have an extra cartridge and won't until at least tomorrow. 

Monday Over the break, new printers were installed.  They do have the ability to print color, but right now the public computers don't have the ability to choose that option.  That will change, likely sometime this week and I'll update on this blog.  We're working out pricing - right now, individuals will have .04 deducted from an account for a single sided copy and .06 for a double sided.  For now, for black and white we will continue to charge .10 per copy for both single and double sided.  I'll update pricing info when color is added.
