Elsevier/Science Direct Subscription Issues

Per Kate Hill on Friday, "Our PPV articles from Elsevier (at least some of them) are not recognizing that we have PPV set up and are asking patrons to purchase the article instead of order the document.  If you see this, please email idsdept@uncg.edu and make the subject line Science Direct article.  Norman and Darinlee can then place these as normal.  Please also do this for patrons having issues.

Some of our direct subscriptions are now asking for you to 'order documents,' like they are PPV.  You can do this, but I would prefer at the moment  you help people get them via ILL.  This is not all journals, as I have spot checked them and its very hit or miss.  I have emailed our reps at Elsevier with the hopes that they will let me know asap what is up and fix it!"

I just encountered this issue on chat with a patron. Both the patron and I tried to access an article through WorldCat that showed as having full-text access, but when we clicked on the "view full-text" button, it brought us to the Science Direct platform and there was no download option--only purchase. If you run into this issue, be sure to email Norman and Darinlee with the article information as directed by Kate! [For interns:] I suggest getting the contact information for the patron so you or a librarian can follow up.
