for your selected topic, search for one article of each general type:
- research article
- integrative review or systematic review
- theoretically based (can include conceptual frameworks)
Don't try to figure that out. If you can, get the student to describe what they need. When you refer these questions to me, I will do the same kind of thing (with more experience in nursing librarianship).
The NUR 473 libguide articles tab has links to PubMed and CINAHL and advice for how to narrow a search down to several types of articles.
It is helpful if you can tell the student that a primary research article in the sciences is one for which the authors have done their own research and gathered their own data. If you can point the student to the methods section of an article, and suggest that they look for details on authors gathering their own data and analyzing it, that would be helpful. I like this video. But remember, the student should determine the article type, contacting the instructor if needed.
Remember to forward nursing questions to me if it gets complicated/takes more than 5 minutes. My appointment scheduler and email are listed on the libguide.
Thank you!
Best,
Lea
