Update on "pay per view" in Science Direct - just use Interlibrary Loan

Hi all,

In the Science Direct database, you might see a "get access" link instead of a pdf link

1. Please check other sources for the item.

For me this means searching WorldCat Discovery for books and a shortcut for articles, and Journal A to Z list for journals.

If you don't see other access for the item in our libraries, then please

2. Mention Interlibrary Loan service and push the link to the ILL request form or the ILL department page

In the Science Direct database we do have a "pay per view" service to buy items on demand for patrons.  But there's no indication to us in public services as to which items are available through pay per view and which aren't.

So if a current student/faculty/staff member is asking for something we can't get in a database, and you can't see in WorldCat Discovery or the Journal list, just point them to ILL.  ILL staff will pick the best fulfillment option.

Thanks,
Lea
