NTR 482/582 - finding a systematic review, what is PICO

Hi folks,

Some nutrition students have been asked to find a systematic review or other evidence synthesis from a source such as Cochrane or EAL.  There's no guide for this course so here's some info

  • we don't have EAL (evidence analysis library from the academy of nutrition and dietetics)
  • we do subscribe to Cochrane Library
  • PubMed has a filter for systematic reviews - results include SRs from Cochrane and other sources
More info on systematic reviews and how to find them is on the library guide to systematic reviews

The students might also ask about PICO.  They're supposed to look at their chosen systematic review and determine what PICO question the authors were trying to answer.  This is for them to do, but remember your background on what PICO (or PICOT or PICOTS) is...an acronym for helping researchers move from a general research interest to a specific question.  More info on the EBP libguide.

Thanks,
Lea
