Print Book Delivery, Distance Students

ILL and ASD have changed the process of online/distance students outside of Guilford County to order print books. It used to be that all books were requested through the Illiad system, but now if the book is library-owned/in house they can use the Request Item button in the catalog. The websites have been updated, so this might be old news to y'all, but just in case!

Here are two relevant and updated links from ASD:

Requesting Library Materials

I'll work on updating the ILL video this summer. Here is more context from Dallas if you're interested:

If they need a UNCG print book, they should submit a request via the catalog by using the "Request Item" button. This request will be sent to the Pull & Pick service at the Circulation Desk. After library staff retrieve the item from the stacks, they will email the patron a link to choose a delivery or pickup option. ASD staff ask for 48-hours to process the UPS shipment. If the patron wants more information about this service: https://library.uncg.edu/borrowing/requesting_library_materials.aspx.

If they need an ILL print book, they should submit the ILL request as they would normally via the catalog by using the "Request via Interlibrary Loan" button. However, they should specify in the Notes field that they are a Distance Education student and need to have the material shipped to their remote address. As soon as the ILL materials arrive (1-2 weeks), ILL staff will ship the ILL material(s) via UPS to the patron's remote home address. Upon request, ILL staff can also send the patron a free, digital UPS return shipping label to cover the return postage for the Distance Ed student. This can be requested via this Google form: https://forms.gle/fMNZxbQNC18M5rfa7
