The New York Times (1980-current) database link takes you directly to the ProQuest U.S. Newssource database and preselects the New York Times, Late Edition (East Coast) periodical.
This is a quick way to search within, or browse issues of, the print edition of the New York Times since 1980.
However, U.S. Newsstream also includes a New York Times (Online) edition with additional unique content from the New York Times website. By preselecting the New York Times print edition you unwittingly omit results from the New York Times (Online) edition. That omission can make it seem like we don't have access to certain NYT articles we actually do. To get around this go to the ProQuest U.S. Newsstream database by using the A-Z Databases: U > US Newsstream link.
Alternatively, you can also get to the U.S. Newsstream database from our Newspaper guide:
https://uncg.libguides.com/newspapers (as seen below).
Then search across all periodicals for the NYT article title you seek:
The Take-Away:
If you are unable to find an online article of the New York Times within the current print edition using the New York Times (1980-current) direct link within the A-Z Databases page, then you can expand your search to include New York Times (Online) content by searching U.S. Newsstream more generally. The U.S. Newsstream database is accessible on the A-Z Databases page under U as "US Newsstream."
