New red search box

Hi all, 

You know the red search box that points to WorldCat Discovery, the library catalog and discovery system?

There's a new version linked on the WorldCat Discovery guide: https://uncg.libguides.com/wcd

The new box still searches books and many of the articles, videos, and music at UNCG and libraries worldwide. 

But it looks different and it brings more functionality to the basic search

It has a drop down menu. Instead of a broad keyword search, you can search more narrowly in authors/creators, subjects, or titles

You can search martin scorsese as an "author" (or creator or contributor) to find his movies, books, and other items in libraries worldwide.

The results are still sorted by library.  If you’d like to limit the entire list to items at UNCG, use a filter.

The catalog itself hasn’t changed, just the red search box.  So you can filter and get results as you normally would. For more information about searching WorldCat Discovery, the library catalog and discovery system, please see the WorldCat Discovery LibGuide - https://uncg.libguides.com/wcd

That guide will be updated when the University Libraries website switches to WordPress NextGen. TB's email this morning announced that ITS is planning to carry out that launch on Weds 7/24.
